Dear Gentle Friends˜
From Ash Wednesday we begin our forty day journey of Lent. This is a more somber time when we focus and prepare our hearts on the suffering and death of Jesus.
Jesus was confronted with many hopeless circumstances and temptations. As my pastor pointed out in his sermon yesterday, "from a human perspective we have reason to despair if we don't know the Good News."
There is a powerful account of Jesus' experience in the wilderness for forty days, tempted by satan, and with wild beasts; angels ministered to Him. Read this passage in the Scriptures: Mark 1:9-15.
Jesus did not lapse into despair, but demonstrated hope in the face of temptation. His love today remains huge, universal, miraculous! He is our Hope.
